Hatch Restore 2? Is it actually worth getting?

To buy or not to buy...

I had my eye on the Hatch Restore 2 for quite some time, but the price point and me questioning whether or not I would actually use it or if it would even contribute to my health are a few reasons why I kept holding off on officially purchasing one. However, as I approach the dun dun dunnnn big 30, I have begun to realize how influential my quality of sleep is on my overall mood, productivity, and mental health the next day. And in a world where we are surrounded by blue screens and constant distraction, it can be hard to go to bed with a clear and relaxed mind.

Cue to two weeks ago, I get a notification from my sister who has heard me rant about the Hatch and how badly I had been wanting one. She tells me it's on sale! It's just $20 off, but $20 off is still $20. At this point, my mental health was poop too, so I took it as a sign from the universe to finally bite the bullet and snag one. And so I did :)

Fast forward to now, about two weeks after the Hatch arrived and has been put to use each night, I can officially say this fancy ass alarm clock is worth it!

^ my nightstand set up: Owala 20oz water bottle, Sleep lotion from Bath & Body Works, Laneige Lip Mask, Lemon Ginger tea, Hatch alarm clock, Kindle + stand from Amazon (not pictured: Kindle remote)

Here's my quick overview...

PROS:

  • you get to set up your own, unique night time routine and morning routine

  • there's a variety of lights and sounds to choose from, including the famous sunset and sunrise light setting...that's right folks. It will wind down over x amount of minutes and imitate a sunset or sunrise!!!

  • the clock itself is made of nice material and looks very clean and aesthetic on your night stand

  • the app is simple to set up and fairly easy to use

CONS:

  • you get a 1-week free trial of their subscription, and then it's $4.99 a month ; you do NOT need the subscription to use the clock, but what I've heard from other reviews online is that you do not get nearly as much access to content for your routines...so long story short, you pay the $4.99 to choose any sound or light setting possible instead of only having maybe 3 to choose from total

  • pricy investment

OVERALL REVIEW:

So, this clock is definitely a tool. It'll only be useful if you are also wanting it to be useful and prioritize using it. What I'm saying is don't expect to have better sleep simply because you buy it and set up some routines, but still plop down in bed at midnight. There is still some discipline on your own that needs to happen.

However, dare I say that this clock has made it more exciting for me to go to bed? I legitimately look forward to my night time routine with the Hatch. I look forward to my 20-minute sunset, my 5-min meditation, and my 20-minute red light with rain sounds reading session before I fall asleep. Is this 30?!

As someone who works from home, routines are even more critical for my well being. As much as I love and appreciate the privilege of being able to work from home, it also makes separating work life from my personal life quite difficult at times. Being able to tap into routines keeps me going and allows me to stay focused with the task at hand.

I've also found that waking up to a sunrise and calming music hits wayyy different than waking up to my iPhone alarm. It makes sense when I think about it now, but waking up to your iPhone alarm can be quite jarring. Especially if you're not getting quality sleep at night. So being able to start my day off in a relaxing way, and even implementing a morning meditation into my routine has made a tremendous difference for me. Not only has this clock helped me fall asleep better, it has also enhanced my quality of sleep and has improved my overall mental health! Wins all around people!

Again, this review and overall feedback is just me relaying my own personal experience. You might decide to get this clock and decide it's not for you, or have a completely different experience. However, I will say, I have yet to meet someone I know IRL or on Instagram that has this clock and has returned it.

I hope this lil' blog post was informative for you! And I hope you enjoyed it too. I love getting to share the random joys and adventures of my life with y'all and hope to share more reviews soon :)

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to send me an email or slide into my DMs on Instagram!

XOXO,

Andrea
